Rising Stars
November 2007

As there is always so much that I need to put in my news report, I have decided to do a new report called THE RISING STARS. Due to the amount of classes that I run a week there are so many students that deserve to be recognized for all their hard work. So this will not be like my report that I do each month about my clubs, it will be mostly photos of the students and what the have achieved within their training.

Firstly two students were unlucky to have their birthdays fall on their training day. So they both got the bumps from their fellow students.

My Daughter Jessica.
Edward Whiffin.
Georgie Page & Georgia Kent.

For the first time at the Brandon dojo two girls were awarded student of the month. It was so difficult to choose between them so I decided that they both deserved to win the award. They have both worked so hard in their training since they started.

This next student started with me at the Brandon dojo back in October 2003, and worked his way up the belts in the infant class before moving into the junior class. His family recently moved so he transferred to the Thetford dojo. Like many of my students he is a credit to the dojo and is very respectful on and off the mats. Even when I have been round to his house on a social visit he greets me with a bow and a hand shake which is truly great to see in this day and age.

Georgia Boyd and Jack Smith have been training with me at the Dereham dojo since day one when it started three years ago. Last month they were the first infants to achieve the top rank of white/black in their class. It is really wonderful to see how much they have changed in so many ways over the last three years. They are both very respectful and Georgia never forgets to say hello to me and goodbye in Japanese. I look forward to seeing them move up into the junior class after Christmas.

A talented and dedicated student Joseph Munday.
Georgia and jack awarded their top grade.
Mia South winner of Student of the month.

Mia south has only been training at the Thetford dojo for a short time. In the first couple of weeks she was so scared and cried for most of the lesson. Put every week she came back. She has changed so much in the last month and gives it 100% throughout the lesson with a big smile. Not only was she awarded student of the month for her courage and determination she was also graded to her first belt. She is a great student who I hope will be with us for a very long time in the future.

Girls on a mission to get to the top.

Where do I start when it comes to Elise Daw and Jade Hawkins. These are two girls who when they first started wouldn't attempt to try anything. If ever I asked them to try something all I would get was. "It's too hard" or "I can't do that".

I decided to test them at the last grading by putting them with two of my best boys in the class. I was amazed as I watched them perform the best grading I have seem them do. I was so proud of them as their instructor they gave it 100% and never gave up whatever happened. They have both changed into very confident, strong and talented martial artists. They both have all the qualities to one day reach the level of Junior Shodan-Ho.

Well done to all the students that have been mentioned on my first ever Rising Stars report.

HAVE A GREAT CHRISTMAS AND A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR
